Hi, I'm Deb Raptis, RN, BSN, CEN, nurse manager for Hudson Hospital Emergency Center.
Welcome to my blog!
In recognition of National Emergency Professionals this month, we say “Thank You” to our Emergency Center nursing staff, physicians, and registration and scheduling staff. We also recognize the exceptional efforts of our partner, St. Croix EMS & Rescue. Here’s a few fun facts about EMS…
- The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) was instrumental in establishing EMS Week in 1974 when President Gerald Ford declared the first EMS Week.
- Emergency Medical Services was started 40 years ago.
- In January 1972, NBC aired the premier episode of Emergency, the two famous firefighter-paramedics were born – Johnny Gage and Roy DeSoto.
National Emergency Medical Professional month is a great opportunity to recognized all emergency staff and our EMS partners. We celebrate and honor our local EMS practitioners serving our community. They are highly trained with advanced skills to enable them to save lives before they even get to the hospital.
