Hi, I’m Jennifer Koziol Wozniak, MD, Allergy and Immunology, Hudson Hospital Specialty Clinics, welcome to my blog!
May is Allergy & Asthma awareness month.
It's a peak season for asthma and allergy sufferers, and a perfect time to educate your patients, family, friends, co-workers and others about these diseases.
Asthma is a disease of the lungs in which the small airways become inflamed or constricted causing breathing difficulty. This chronic disease affects 20 million Americans. Allergies are diseases of the immune system that cause an overreaction to substances called "allergens."
Allergies can take several different forms: indoor and outdoor allergies (also called "hay fever," "seasonal," "perennial" or "nasal" allergies), other allergies include: food, latex, insect, skin and eye allergies. Learn about Allergy & Asthma tips from the Allergy & Asthma Foundation of America website: aafa.org.
