Welcome to my blog. I'm Beth Schroepfer, RN, coordinator of our Health Resource Center.
Knowledge is power.
Knowing what to expect provides better outcomes from your surgery and rehabilitation. Hudson Hospital & Clinics offers pre-operative total joint education for knee, hip and shoulder replacement procedures. These sessions will help you to better understand what to expect before, during and after surgery. After your surgery is scheduled, St. Croix Ortho will contact me and I will in turn contact you. Together we find a time that will fit your schedule so we can meet and discuss what to expect while you are in the hospital and after discharge for your rehabilitation. You are encouraged to bring anyone along that may be helping you after surgery, your spouse, children, friends, or whomever you decide.
We meet one-on-one so that no questions or concerns are too trivial and your specific needs can be addressed. The information covered includes such things as; what will happen the morning of surgery, when do I start therapy, what are the risks and benefits, how long before I can get back to living? And many more questions. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge you need to have the best outcome possible. You not only meet with our multidisciplinary team one-on-one but we make sure you know who to call with any questions that may come up, so you are never left to wonder. We strive to put a name and face to your care.
What stories have you heard about total joint replacement – are they fact or fiction?
