Hudson Hospital Foundation funds facilitate training

In support of our organization, the Hudson Hospital Foundation approved funds for several equipment purchases for Hudson Hospital & Clinics.

The Lucas chest compression device was recently purchased for the Emergency Center, making our hospital one of only a few in western Wisconsin with this lifesaving tool.  The Lucas is a portable, easy-to-use tool that delivers automated chest compressions to persons experiencing cardiac arrest.  The Lucas improves the quality and consistency of chest compressions and allows staff to more efficiently assess the patients condition and provide other livesaving treatment without having to perform manual compressions.  Studies show the Lucas devise improves blood flow during CPR and increases survival rates for those experiencing cardiac arrest.

An Infant CRiSis Manikin was purchased for Birth Center nurse training. The manikin simulates realistic training for skill development in accuracy, determining anatomical landmarks and learning proper infant handling in emergencies. It also allows training and practice of intubation, suction techniques, infant airway management, and CPR.

Additional Sharps containers were purchased for community residents to dispose of contaminated sharps safely in their homes. The containers can be picked up and dropped off at the Emergency Center, Pharmacy or Hudson Physicians clinic diabetic educators. "Hudson Hospital & Clinics is the biggest distributor and disposer of personal sharps containers in St. Croix County, " says Sue Kramer, infection preventionist.
