Safe Medication Disposal Take-Back Bins Available (see article)
What do you do with extra medicine? When drugs are not disposed of properly, it increases the risk of accidental poisoning and drug abuse, and it can damage our ecosystems and overall health. Learn more about how to dispose of unused medicine from the FDA.
We’re proud to be leading the way in responsible medicine disposal by providing locked kiosks for community members to return their unused medications, including opioid prescriptions. The drop box at Hudson Hospital (outside the Pharmacy) can be accessed during regular pharmacy hours.
We cannot accept the following in the Medication Take-Back Bins:
- Batteries
- Flammable liquids
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Illegal drugs
- Inhalers
- IV bags and tubing
- Medical waste
- Medication from businesses (nursing homes, clinics, EMS, etc.)
- Needles (sharps) - See Emergency Center for information
- Thermometers
Note:
For proper disposal of Sharps needles, view www.dnr.wi.gov.. Bring container directly to the Emergency Center (only).
