Hospital Nutrition Care As an inpatient, you will be visited by one of our highly-trained registered dietitians. The registered dietitians are a member of your clinical care team. They will complete a nutrition assessment to identify nutrition related problems and address your nutritional needs through education, diet intervention and aid in your recovery to improve your health. The assessment also includes instruction and guidance to promote the healthiest of long-term diet and eating habits.

Health Habits for Life® Weight Management Series Achieve long-term weight management through positive lifestyle changes with this class series. Weight management at every age comes from a lifestyle that includes accurate information, good nutrition and regular physical activity. Healthy Habits for Life is a well-rounded weight management program teaching a long-term approach through education, support and guidance.
This balanced, 12-class series is taught by one of the hospital’s registered dietitians and certified weight management specialists – meaning expert education, guidance and personalized care from a health professional.
To support forming healthier habits, each participant receives: - MedGem® Metabolic Measurement (a test that gives healthcare professionals precise information to help determine nutritional requirements)
- Computerized analysis and interpretation of food intake
- Body composition, size and weight measurements
- Customized meal plan
- High-quality, interactive class materials
DASH Eating Plan Class Series Whether you’ve been diagnosed with high blood pressure or are at risk of developing high blood pressure, the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) eating plan could help you. Patients in DASH research studies who used the eating plan were able to lower their blood pressure to the same extent as other patients who took antihypertensives.
Basic principles of the DASH eating plan include: - Reduce the overall amount of fat, saturated fat and cholesterol
- Increase the number of fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy foods
- Increase fiber intake by including whole grain products
- Reduce the amount of sodium
- Reduce sweets and sugar-containing beverages
During this six-session class series, you’ll learn in detail how this eating plan can help you. You’ll receive support and guidance to help ensure you are able to successfully make the DASH eating plan part of your regular daily life.
Diet Analysis Sessions How do the foods you regularly eat impact your health? Are you meeting your basic daily nutritional needs? Two one-on-one diet analysis sessions will provide you with detailed review and interpretation of your current diet, including carbohydrate, protein, fat and fiber, as well as a breakdown of specific vitamins and minerals to determine your strengths and weaknesses in nutrition. The analysis is computerized and interpreted. Each session is 30 minutes.
Nutrition & Weight Management Coaching Private and personalized teaching and nutrition coaching is conveniently available. Each meeting is enthusiastically guided by a registered dietitian who is not only trained and experienced in nutritional counseling, but is also certified as a personal trainer and fitness instructor, and certified in adult weight management.

Fitness Center Membership Our fitness center is a convenient and affordable community resource for your cardiovascular, strengthening or general health fitness workout. Located in the hospital, the center has some of the latest workout equipment. Each new member receives a personalized orientation to the Fitness Center.
