The EAP is an employee benefit sponsored by Hudson Hospital that helps employees and their families with personal problems, family problems or problems that may affect their work performance.
The employee and their family members can speak to a professional counselor in a confidential manner about any problem they are experiencing; family, marital, substance abuse or personal distress, just to name a few.
How does an Employee Assistance Program work?
Because it is confidential and free, any employee or family member can call to set up an appointment. Confidentiality means that your employer or co-workers will not know you call or are seen by a counselor. Your concerns are kept between you and your counselor.
Also, if your supervisor becomes aware of a problem or if your work is being affected, the supervisor may encourage you to use the EAP. Again, it is confidential and voluntary.
Why do we need an Employee Assistance Program?
The hospital cares about their employees and understands that personal problems can affect job performance as well. The fact is, we all have challenges in our daily lives. Sometimes they may seem overwhelming and can affect our personal happiness, our relationship with others, our health or our work performance. Seeking a professional, confidential consultation is simply good sense.
What sorts of problems can I talk to the EAP about?
Some examples include personal, family issues, relationship concerns, parenting, legal or financial concerns, substance abuse problems or other addictions. If your EAP counselor cannot address your problems, we will do our best to locate a community resource that may be able to address your concerns.
Who can utilize the services of the EAP?
Hospital employees, their family members, including children, can take advantage of this program. We believe that the problems of a family member can affect the employee as well.
Who is responsible for the cost of the Employee Assistance Program?
The hospital pays for this service. Employees and their families can be seen four to six times at no cost. If additional services are needed, the employee will need to utilize their health insurance benefits. Finally, your Employee Assistance Program is confidential, free and accessible with one phone call.
