Hudson, Wisc. – March 1, 2012 — There were five babies born yesterday at the Hudson Hospital Birth Center— tying a record for the western Wisconsin hospital. On average, there are less than two births each day at the Birth Center.
“Our nurses were running all day just to keep up. We’ve rarely seen it like this,” said Joanne Donhowe, manager, Hudson Hospital Birth Center. Donhowe said that the morning of Feb. 28, they had no maternity patients, and within 24 hours that night and into the next morning, all five mothers showed up and babies delivered, including one Waterbirth baby.
Last year Hudson Hospital Birth Center delivered 624 babies; up almost 100 from the year before.
