It’s been 33 years since the very first golf tournament occurred for Hudson Hospital & Clinic and on June 9th, yet another tournament was successful raising over $40,000 to community health care initiatives in the name of Al Hein, founder of the hospital foundation.
"I think Al and Laurie Hein would have been proud these past few years to see how their legacies have lived on in the Hudson community," states Rich O'Connor, Foundation Board Chair and golfer at the tournament. The funds we raised has gone to great community partners in health like St. Croix EMS, YMCA, St. Croix Therapy, Free Clinic of Pierce and St. Croix Counties, Healthier Together, Hudson School District, Chad Greenway Foundation, St. Croix Valley NAMI, LifeAssist home monitoring program, and hopefully many more”
The tournament, which is a Hudson tradition, hosted 132 golfers and supporters at White Eagle Golf Club. Joining together in support of their community, local business leaders and community members arrived eager for a little friendly competition on a cool, yet wonderful day.
Nick Hackworthy, tournament chair comments, "The Al Hein is a very important component to our Foundation efforts. We are humbled each year by the many hours of work put in by our volunteer committee and the multiple businesses that support us with hole sponsorships, golf and auction gifts. The tournament remains a premier event each year and we appreciate all the support from our community.”
Al and Laurie Hein were advocates for leaving a charitable legacy through estate planning. Their family trust is still active today—disbursing funds not only to the hospital, but other local community partners such as Carpenter Nature Center, YMCA, Phipps Performing Arts and Camp St. Croix.
