National Healthcare Volunteer Week is celebrated April 21 – 27. Honoring the spirit of service recognizes volunteers for their outstanding contributions to support patients, families and communities in the health care setting. Hudson Hospital & Clinic volunteers were recognized for their service at a luncheon event held in their honor on Tuesday, April 16 at Camp St. Croix. Over 100 volunteers and many hospital staff attended the recognition event. “Volunteers are making a difference in the lives of others every day,” says Rosa Magnus, volunteer and human resources coordinator, Hudson Hospital & Clinic. “We have 160 dedicated and wonderful volunteers that give of their time and talents each year.” Hospital volunteers contributed 14,000 hours of service in 2012. Volunteers will continue to be recognized at several hospital activities planned during National Healthcare Volunteer Week.
The following volunteer recognition and years of service awards were announced at the recognition luncheon: Sally Friedlander, 30 years; Beth Polgreen, 25 years; Bob White, 15 years; Ten years of service awards to: Donna Christensen , Vivian Johnston, Gloria Keller, Connie Klecker, Lorraine McGrew, John Tremse & Joanne Tremse; Five years of service awards to: Keith Bevers, Nancy Hokonson, Ron Kruger, Pat Niccum, Linda Proch, Roger Proch, Linda Steele & Jerry Zappa. Volunteers recognized for hours of service included: Bob McGrew with 882 hours, Dave McDonald with 501 hours, Nancy Roettiger with 449 hours, Carol Gorke, Dick Metzger & Beth Polgreen with more than 300 hours each and Keith Bevers, Dick Brown, Karen Jilek, Ron Krueger, Ruby Lawson, Lorraine McGrew, Margaret Webb & Jane White with more than 200 hours of service each. The hospital is very appreciative of all volunteers and thanks them for their service.
