Hudson Hospital & Clinic, along with Regions, Lakeview, and Westfields Hospitals, recently achieved their HIMSS Analytics Stage 6 designation. Park Nicollet’s Methodist Hospital also received their Stage 6 designation last year. HIMSS Analytics is the authoritative source on Electronic Medical Records (EMR) adoption trends, and scores hospitals on their progress in completing the 8 stages to creating a paperless patient record environment. Currently, only 10% of the hospitals in the U.S. have received this designation. With the recent implementation of bar-coded medication administration, these hospitals have been able to move up to Stage 6. This distinction honors our organization’s accomplishments to implement technology solutions that have ability to improve patient safety and quality of care.
These hospitals are now working toward Stage 7 designation which requires a focus on getting medications from codes into the medication administration record, bar-coding for blood transfusions and breast milk and getting clinically relevant documents that are on paper scanned into the electronic medical record system within 24-hours of creation. All of which positively impacts patient care.
