(Hudson, WI) On Wednesday, May 25, the Hudson Hospital Foundation awarded $5,000 to the Hudson Backpack Program. Hudson Hospital Foundation offered the grant in support of providing a “reserve” fund for this very small local non-profit. The Hudson Backpack program is a volunteer operated organization that started in 2007 to meet the needs of hungry school-age students. All Hudson private and public elementary schools participate in this worthy program. The program is completely confidential and participating families are referred by the school counselors. Each child goes home bi-monthly with non-perishable items and a grocery store voucher for milk, eggs and cheese via the back pack. The Backpack Program serves approximately 150 students during the school year.
