Hudson Hospital Named Top 100 Critical Access Hospital for Fifth Consecutive Year - and Named in Top 16 Hospitals to earn this status every year
(Hudson, WI) Hudson Hospital & Clinic, part of HealthPartners organizations, was named one of the iVantage Top 16 of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) in the United States. Sixteen hospitals, including Hudson Hospital, have received this recognition every year since the iVantage INDEX study was introduced five years ago. These top hospitals performed better than their peers in managing population risk, having high quality, better outcomes and patient satisfaction, lower costs and charges than their peers. The level of performance demonstrated by these facilities comes during a period of uncertainly within rural healthcare, and can serve as a blueprint for other rural providers working actively to navigate the transition to value-based healthcare models.
“We are very proud to achieve this significant accomplishment,” commented Marian Furlong, President and CEO, Hudson Hospital & Clinic. “This recognition is a reflection of the efforts of our staff, medical staff, Hudson Physicians and other care partners on their commitment to the Triple Aim – to improve health, provide an exceptional experience, at an affordable cost for our patients and members. Working together in partnership with each other and HealthPartners will help ensure a bright future for Hudson Hospital & Clinic.”
Hudson Hospital scored in the Top 16 of the Top 100 of Critical Access Hospitals on the iVantage Hospital Strength INDEX™. The INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive rating of US acute care hospitals, and the only one to include the country’s 1,300 CAHs. The results recognize that the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals provide a safety net to communities across rural America – measuring them across 62 different performance metrics, including quality, outcomes, patient perspective, affordability, population risk and efficiency. The list of the top 100 Critical Access Hospitals and more information about the study can be found at www.iVantageINDEX.com.
“Rural healthcare deserves the same performance analysis as all provider performance. It plays a vital role for communities across America, serving nearly 80 million people. The services provided in rural America are similar to those needed in any major metropolitan area, yet the volumes and economic resources provide little economies of scale, making for little benefit from scale. These top 100 Critical Access Hospitals exhibit a focused concern for their community benefits and needs, regardless of scale, reimbursement and people’s ability to pay,” said Michael Topchik, senior vice president of iVantage Health Analytics.
