As seen in the Hudson Star Observer, November 13, 2014:
HUDSON, WI—Site preparations have begun, setting the stage for construction of Woodland Hill, a new Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) senior living community that will be located on land immediately east of and adjacent to Hudson Hospital & Clinic. A formal groundbreaking ceremony will be held in the near future.
Current work involves improvements on the construction site as well as on the adjacent the hospital property. The depth of utilities and changes in elevation on the site require the removal of several trees from the property. “We are making every effort to preserve as many trees as we can through this process, even realigning some utility corridors.” said Pamela Belz, Project Developer with Senior Housing Partners, a subsidiary of PHS.
The East main entrance drive to Hudson Hospital & Clinic will be realigned to create a separate entrance to the senior living community. Belz said, “We’re working with the City of Hudson and the hospital to minimize any disruption to the local traffic or access to the hospital.”
When complete, Woodland Hill will provide housing and services for the growing population of older adults in Hudson and the St. Croix Valley. Plans for the first phase include construction of a medical suite for DaVita Dialysis clinic that will offer 12 chronic dialysis stations and two home training rooms. The state-of-the-art-suite is expected to open in April 2015, bringing comprehensive kidney care close to home for those living in the Hudson area. Construction has also started for housing, anticipated to open in early 2016 that will include 160 senior apartments, assisted living and memory care apartments, and an array of amenities.
PHS, Hudson Hospital & Clinic and DaVita continue their collaborative efforts as plans unfold for consistent and complementary care services each can provide, including transportation between the campuses, special nutrition and dietary support for dialysis patients and others, wellness education and more. Each organization brings a good reputation, stability and rich history in service to older adults. The 3-way collaboration is a first of its kind in the region. “We are building on the strong relationship we share with HealthPartners. Our efforts with Hudson Hospital & Clinic and DaVita Dialysis will translate into support and choices for older adults in the St. Croix Valley now and into the future,” said Dan Lindh, President and CEO of PHS.
Presbyterian Homes & Services has been actively serving older adults in the St. Croix Valley since 1999 when it opened The Deerfield located in New Richmond, WI, followed by Boutwells Landing in Oak Park Heights, which opened in 2002; and Croixdale in Bayport, MN, which opened in 2004.
