From home entertainment centers to surgery centers – wide screen high definition televisions are becoming a medical technology standard. Recently, Hudson Hospital & Clinic installed this new High Definition imaging (HD) technology in all three surgical suites. High definition imaging capability offers greater precision and higher quality imaging for performing minimally invasive surgery. The move to HD in the surgical suites included installation and testing of cameras, scopes and monitors to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

High definition provides a better quality picture for surgeons during minimally invasive surgery including: laparoscopy for gallbladder removal, appendix removal, hysterectomy and colon resections; arthroscopy of knees, shoulders and other joints; hysteroscopy for uterine ablation and other procedures, and sinus endoscopy, and more. Patients benefit with more surgical accuracy and faster recovery times. Two of the operating rooms have two 26" monitors on booms that can be moved to a location convenient for the surgeon. The third surgical suite has a cart with equipment and a monitor with an additional monitor which can be used in any of the room.
The new high definition (HD) laparoscopic equipment has continued to revolutionize minimally invasive surgery. Using the new HD equipment, surgeons are able to perform a wide variety of surgery using a minimally invasive (laparoscopic) approach. This approach often results in less pain and a faster recovery for the patient. Well performed surgery is dependent on attention to detail. The new high definition equipment enables surgeons to better visualize anatomic structures and perform more precise operations.
