Telecare service offers comfort and care to seniors living alone
Tuesday, February 14, 2012The mission of Hudson Hospital & Clinic is “caring for the health of our community.” Hudson Hospital & Clinic offers Telecare, a free daily check-in service, to help seniors feel safe while living independently. Participants in the Telecare service receive a call each morning from a hospital volunteer, and if there is no answer, a friend or family member is contacted to determine if assistance is needed. Volunteers offer a friendly voice, compassionate ear, and peace of mind for the elderly in the Telecare program. If the recipient is recovering from an illness, or has fallen, this daily call could be key to notifying a friend or family member to check in on them. Hudson Hospital has volunteers on staff to make health check-up calls, as well as offer a comforting friendly voice to chat for awhile and listen to their thoughts or concerns. This free service is open to anyone living alone who would appreciate a daily check in phone call. For more information on Telecare, contact Hudson Hospital Volunteer Services at (715) 531-6070.
