Whether arthritis, trauma, or the natural wear of joints causes the ongoing pain, joint replacement surgery improves the quality of life for many. The ultimate goal of this surgery is to relieve pain, improve mobility and restore as much functional independence as possible.
In addition to discussing minimally invasive hip and knee surgery, and hip resurfacing, Dr. Knowlan will share his expertise on one of the latest techniques that offers potential benefits to patients – computer-assisted joint replacement surgery. Similar to a GPS navigation system found in cars, this image-guided surgery system provides the “road map” and supports surgeons in making more informed decisions about the patient’s anatomy and determines precise positioning and joint alignment. Join us to learn more. A computer demonstration of this new technology will be available for viewing and a question and answer session will follow.
