Free Health Screening Event
Find Out Your Risk for Peripheral Arterial Disease (P.A.D.)
Up to 20 percent of Americans are afflicted with P.A.D. (peripheral arterial disease), yet most don’t realize it. That’s because symptoms of P.A.D. such as leg pain and cramping, are often written off as insignificant or related to normal aging. Worse, more than two thirds of those afflicted with P.A.D. feel no pain or symptoms at all. But P.A.D. is often a result of other diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. If left unchecked, it can lead to stroke, loss of limb and heart attack.
A quick and pain-free screening for P.A.D.
Fortunately, a pain-free, non-invasive screening called an ABI – ankle brachial index – can be performed to diagnose P.A.D. In September, Hudson Hospital, together with Hudson Physicians is offering a free P.A.D. screening event as part of the national Staying in Circulation screening program during National Vascular Disease Awareness Month.
Signing up for the P.A.D. screening at Hudson Hospital
For more information on the free P.A.D. screening offered at Hudson Hospital on Tuesday, September 25, call the Health Resource Center at (715) 531-6250. You will be given a pre-screening questionnaire over the phone to determine your risk for P.A.D. and screening eligibility. Appointments are limited.
If you have risk factors such as family history of heart problems, obesity, smoking, or are over age 50 and are experiencing intermittent or continued leg pain, call about Hudson Hospital’s free P.A.D. screening event.
