Hospital purchases Horne Property
From Hudson Star-Observer, Tuesday, January 06, 2009, Doug Stohlberg writer Hudson Hospital & Clinics recently purchased 17 acres of property from Rita and Einar Horne. The purchase price was $4 million. The land is just east of the hospital on Stageline Road. The address of Horne's home on the property is 429 Stageline Road. President and CEO of Hudson Hospital Marian Furlong said the purchase will bring the total campus land area to about 40 acres of contiguous property. "That's comparable to other hospitals in the outer ring of the Twin Cities," Furlong said. There are no immediate plans for the property, but Furlong said the acquisition is part of the hospital's "Hudson Health 2020" initiative. "The initiative is a look at the future health care of the community, and our local board is working closely with HealthPartners to design a master plan to best serve our community," Furlong said. She said a master facility plan will be developed and the Horne property will now be a part of that long-range plan. "We will have to determine what will work best on our 40 acre-site and how we can best serve our community," Furlong said. "It is important to look at the future and plan ahead. This expansion allows us to have the land space that we think is necessary in the years to come."
