Volunteering

Whether you’re retired, a student, or just looking for a way to make the most of your free time and connect with others, Hudson Hospital has volunteer opportunities for those who want to do more.

You’ll meet new people and gain valuable experiences, all contributing to caring for the health of our community.

There’s really no better feeling than helping those who need it most—and as a hospital volunteer you’ll do that each time you come to volunteer.

We offer a variety of volunteer positions, and work with you to find a role that creates the most rewarding experience for you and our patients. Some typical positions include:

  • Café associate
  • Gardener
  • Gift shop sales associate
  • Healing touch practitioner
  • Information and hospitality
  • Patient visitor
  • Van driver
  • Special projects based upon specialized experience and training

How can I become a volunteer?

  • Age: Volunteer applicants should be 16 years of age or older.
  • Commitment: Volunteer for one 3-hour shift per week. Because of the amount of orientation and training involved, we request a minimum 100-hour commitment (approximately 6 months) from our new volunteers.
  • Interview: An interview will be conducted to explore talents and interests so that an appropriate and rewarding volunteer placement will be made.
  • Screening: A criminal background check will be completed
  • General Health Review:  Each new volunteer must complete tuberculosis (TB) testing and blood will be drawn to screen for immunity to measles, mumps and rubella.
  • Hospital Orientation: Each volunteer must be oriented to the hospital, safety practices and privacy requirements through our orientation process. Orientation is arranged on an individual basis, and takes approximately
    2 hours.

We are pleased to offer great benefits for volunteers, including:

  • Free coffee, tea or fountain drinks while volunteering.
  • $5 meal certificate to the hospital Café for volunteers working a shift of three or more hours.
  • 10% discount at the Alcove Gift Shop.
  • 10% discount off prescriptions at the hospital’s Community Pharmacy, up to $3 off per prescription.
  • 15% discount off of massage therapy.
  • Fitness Center membership for $10 a month, plus a $20 initiation fee.

If you have a heart for service and desire to provide exceptional care, contact the hospital’s volunteer services manager at (715) 531-6070 to learn how you can become part of our team.
